Capstone Project Statement of Intent

My Capstone explores the lack of critical thinking among young film audiences. Film audiences everyone, specially young people, lack the skill or interest to seek the complex techniques and elements which make up their favorite movies. Movies are perceived as mainly entertainment and the entertainment value is merely evaluated by the actors or the plot. I strongly believe that if film audiences had a better understanding of the essential components of film, such as sound, editing, cinematography, and mise-en-scene,  they would be able to understand and appreciate the profound message and purpose the medium offers. As an aspiring film editor, i intend to guide film viewers to enhance their attitude and ability to look at their favorite films critically beyond the plot and acting.
